    • I’m guessing that ‘cruft’ spread from its IT context to daily life via the crumbs which accumulate in one’s keyboard. Certainly the machine which processed my negatives seemed to be full of hair, crumbs, dust and possibly marmalade. Grrr.
      And black – well, there are all sorts of shades of black, e.g. the prints seemed to me a sour sort of black so perhaps colour would apply (I liked the digital black scanned from the negatives better).
