Teaching in the dark


A late session giving two guests their first taste of throwing.  A challenge:  explaining enough but not being too directive; helping but not doing it for them; making sure they have a pot to come safely off the wheelhead, but still ensuring that they feel they did it …

Anyway they have a pot each.  And I’m reminded why I need to MAKE time in my calendar for throwing – even if there isn’t any time.

  1. Oh, the wheel, yes that rings a bell. I’ve almost stopped thinking ‘i need to get out there on the wheel’, it’s been so long.

  2. Have you a small enough kiln to do a firing? Or are there other goodies lurking in your studio so that you can fill up? This is always a conundrum for me; how accommodate the odd pot for a friend or client…
