On receiving handmedowns

Perhaps I’ve been looking very old and impoverished lately, as people are giving me their handmedowns:

How lucky could you possibly get?  Not only are they really good things, I get to think about the givers every time I use them 🙂

    • Why indeed. It’s like second hand books but better, because you know the people who gave the things to you so you always see the previous owner in them.

      • 2nd hand books are great because they sometimes have names and annotations. I’ve got a book somewhere that has been repeatedly corrected by someone. But since I don’t know who they are I can’t make use of them. Endless fantasies about who they were, what they were up to. You get more than one book for the same price.
