Hasn’t anyone noticed?

The cathedral spire isn’t growing out of this house roof.  The shrub, however, is.  Those buddleias get everywhere.

    • Maybe rosebay willowherb on the bomb sites – the popular name is fireweed – but buddleia certainly behaves in the same sort of way. You see it all along railway lines now, don’t you, and I believe it is a major pest for railway maintenance. I used to have one in the garden, with the ugliest great lumps of dark purple flowers you can imagine, but it smelled wonderful and in season wore a kind of flickering sheath made of dozens of Painted Ladies. I was really sorry when it got elderly and the middle rotted out of it.
